A lifelong Kansan and lifelong Republican, Mark and his wife Angie have lived in the district more than 32 years. After graduating from Emporia State University, the Schreibers made their home in Emporia and raised their two children here. Mark worked 37 years with KG&E and Westar Energy, first at the Wolf Creek Generating Station and later at the company’s headquarters in Topeka. Angie founded and operates the Cradle to Career Literacy Center.
Thanks to his career experience, Mark brings a business perspective to the legislature. He believes that truly representing our district requires a deep involvement with the community, so he continues to take every opportunity to learn about the district’s challenges and how we can work together to meet them.
He has served on the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce, was United Way fund-drive chair, and served on the boards of SOS, the ESU Foundation, Emporia Community Foundation and the Trusler Foundation. He also served on the Emporia Lyon County Metropolitan Planning Commission, and the statewide Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence. Mark and Angie are members of the Didde Catholic Campus Center.
